Who am I?

Jacob Fox, Registered Psychologist

Offering Virtual and In-Person Services

Who are you? This seemingly simple question can be difficult to answer. Have you lost your answer? Tragedy, distractions, addictions, or avoidance often cause us to lose sight of our sense of self and lead us to make choices that contradict who we are at our core. The fallout of this can cause conflict in relationships and create unintentional barriers to building or fostering connections.

All clients are unique, so therapeutic interventions need to be equally unique. I apply a solution-focused framework and takes an integrative approach to therapy, which motivates me to use different therapeutic tools and methods to fit your individual needs. Tailoring a therapeutic plan to your needs helps me support you in defining who you are. I also have advanced training in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), which is used to deal with stuck trauma and mental filters that keep you from being your true self.

My experience counselling in the school system as well as in private practice has taught me that the process of healing and recovery happens at any age and stage of life.

My Education and Journey

I completed by Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology with distinction in 2015 shortly before moving to north-eastern Alberta to apply my newly acquired knowledge in the role of Family School Liaison Worker (Smoky Lake, Vilna, and Waskatenau). This allowed for six years of learning how to connect with adolescents (K-12) and growing a fondness and reverence for Indigenous cultures. During this time, I pursued greater heights with a Master’s in Counselling Psychology degree and moved to Innisfail to complete my practicum. I have been in private practice since early 2023 and opened Integritas Psychology in April 2025.

I found my heart modality in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) which allows clients to quickly move through “stuck traumas” with little chance for re-traumatization. This has proven especially valuable to clients experiencing treatment-resistant or work-related trauma, PTSD, or single-incident trauma. Now that I have master level training in ART, I use it both as a primary and auxiliary treatment option along with various other treatment modalities.

After completing all requirements for full registration in the fall of 2025, the culmination of my efforts was realized. On Oct. 30, 2025, I received full registration as a psychologist and look forward to serving you in this role.

Psychiatrists, Psychologists, and Counsellors… oh my!

There are so many titles. What is the difference… and why does it matter? The Psychologists’ Association of Alberta (PAA) has an excellent resource to tell you the difference.

I am a fully registered psychologist and am regulated by the College of Alberta Psychologists. This means I am bound to certain ethical standards and have a regulating body to enforce and oversee my work.

Prior to being fully registered, a provisional psychologist (who at minimum holds a Master’s Degree in an associated field) must undergo 1600 hours of supervised practice, successfully complete an ethics exam, and pass a rigorous professional exam for the practice of psychology.
